On October 13, 2026, Google DeepMind officially unveiled Gemini 4 Argon — a new frontier model available through the Gemini API (gemini-4-argon), Google AI Studio, Antigravity, as well as in the Gemini app and AI Mode for subscribers. A particular emphasis in the presentation was placed on robotics and "physical" AI.
According to Google, Argon combines visual-semantic reasoning, understanding of physics, and code generation. This enables the model to be applied across all stages of a robot's lifecycle: from control and Real2Sim to data labeling and self-improvement on hardware.
87% on Embodied Reasoning (ERQA)
On the ERQA (Embodied Reasoning) benchmark, which tests the ability to understand spatial and physical tasks in 3D environments, Argon scores 87% in pure reasoning mode. Google claims the model outperforms other frontier systems on this test.
Video-to-Sim-to-Real: from human video to Apollo
In an internal demo, Argon watched a video of a person playing cornhole, built a simulation, and transferred the skill to the humanoid Apptronik Apollo. In a real-world trial, the robot made seven accurate throws in a row. The company emphasizes that the pipeline compresses weeks of manual simulation modeling into a few hours.
Other robotics scenarios
Among the cited applications are mobile manipulation of Boston Dynamics Spot (throwing a can into a trash bin with a pedal after practice in MuJoCo), Real2Sim from robot or human video and from sketches, digital twins in MuJoCo, and iterative self-improvement on hardware. According to Google, a single photo of a workbench, from which Argon built a simulation twin, raised policy success from 56% to 75% and cut execution time from 35 s to 24 s.
The introductory API price (until November 30, 2026) is $2 / $10 per 1M input/output tokens, then $4 / $20. For teams building physical agents, the key factor remains not the price, but the ability to quickly turn video and scenes into validated simulations and real control.
