WD MyBook Live - your mini Linux server

1. Enable SSH

Import the configuration file via the web interface

Change ssh_enable="enabled"

Then export it back

2. Log in via SSH as root - welc0me

3. Install the required programs

wget http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/local--files/optware/setup-mybooklive.sh
sh setup-mybooklive.sh

/opt/bin/ipkg update # обновляем пакеты

/opt/bin/ipkg list  # смотрим доступные пакеты

/opt/bin/ipkg install htop mc

4. Устанавливаем новую прошивку чз ssh

wget http://download.wdc.com/nas/apnc-023205-046-20120910.deb

updateFirmwareFromFile.sh apnc-023205-046-20120910.deb

5. Датчик температуры

apt-get update
apt-get install hddtemp

Command to check:
hddtemp -n /dev/sda

Update:

aptitude install debian-keyring debian-archive-keyring

aptitude update

 don't forget to hold udev before you do this: e.g., `aptitude hold udev` 

# aptitude upgrade

Установка mysql

aptitude install mysql-server mysql-client php5-mysql
# create symlink of /etc/init.d/mysql in /etc/rc2.d/ to autostart the mysql server
ln -s /etc/init.d/mysql /etc/rc2.d/
# initialize mysql data dir and create system tables
mysql_install_db --user=mysql --basedir=/usr --datadir=/var/lib/mysql
# restart apache
/etc/init.d/apache2 restart
